To Ski or Not to Ski?

I recently took a weekend getaway with some friends to Cataloochee, NC. This was my first time hitting slopes that were covered in fake snow instead of real, fresh powder [spoiled, I know].

I am a snowboarder, thanks to my father, but on my last ski trip with my family I decided to ski instead of board. I LOVED it…mostly because I wasn’t constantly falling on my ass, but also because I was able to use two separate feet instead of having them attached as one. When deciding to go with my friends on this trip I knew I would snowboard because I would save money not having to rent any equipment. Let me just say, snowboarding on fresh powder is better than snowboarding on ice, at least in my opinion.

While on this trip we ventured to Asheville [only about 30 min. away] for dinner/drinks and again for brunch. What an incredibly diverse city! There are fantastic restaurants, shops, street musicians, and so much more. While grabbing food one night we tried an appetizer of fresh pretzels with a Fat Tire [beer] cheese dip – oh my gosh…delicious! The Thirsty Monk Pub and Brewery was such a perfect place to hangout with friends. We enjoyed our brunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe – yummy! I will definitely be going back to Asheville to experience more of this unique city.
